BIONICS:

Study of the results of biological evolution from the engineering point of view.

Bionics seeks to transcend our biological nature by replacing biological parts with artificial parts or by translating the human mind into information in a computer. These processes are naturally highly speculative so far, since we are still far from this technological level. However, in the field of connecting artificial limbs & other systems to nerves, some promising advances have already happened or seem probable in the near future.

Bionics is a scientific discipline deals with the technical application or transformation of structures, procedures and developmental principles of biological system. Originally, the word “Bionics” derives from the terms “bio” and “electronics”. Nowadays, the word is more generally used for a young and interdisciplinary research field which combines biology with the sciences of engineering, architecture and mathematics.
